Oyo Police Debunk Bandit Attack Rumour After School Panic

Police in Oyo State have dismissed rumours of a bandit attack in Ogbomoso and nearby communities. They say the panic was caused by the presence of an NSCDC officer and two civilians inside Are-Ago High School. According to DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, pupils reported unfamiliar figures behind the school fence. The visitors turned out to be a civil defence officer celebrating a friend’s birthday. A misunderstanding between teachers and the guests fuelled the false alarm. The command confirmed there was no breach in security. Patrols have been stepped up and local leaders briefed. The police warned the public against spreading unverified reports to avoid needless panic.
