Ikeja Women Groups Call on National Assembly to Pass Special Seats for Women Bill

On Wednesday, a coalition of women groups in Ikeja Constituency presented a petition to the House of Representatives. Led by Mrs. Bola Faola of the APC, they urged lawmakers to support the Special Seats for Women Bill. The proposed legislation would add one reserved seat per state and the FCT in both the Senate and House, creating an extra 74 positions. Advocates say this step will address the longstanding gender imbalance in governance. Mrs. Faola described lawmakers’ constituency offices as strategic platforms to engage elected representatives. She called on members of the National Assembly to give the bill favourable consideration and urged women nationwide to unite in the push for inclusive representation.
