NRC Adds Extra Lagos–Ibadan Trains to Ease Sallah Travel

NRC Adds Extra Lagos–Ibadan Trains to Ease Sallah Travel

The Nigerian Railway Corporation will run six train trips on the Lagos–Ibadan corridor on Tuesday, May 26 instead of the usual four. Lagos departures are set for 7:45 a.m., 1:40 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., while trains leave Ibadan at 8:00 a.m., 10:50 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. This schedule boost applies only to Sallah travel. Normal four-trip Tuesdays will resume after the holiday, and the standard six-trip Thursday service returns from May 29. Osun State is sponsoring a free Sallah train for indigenes, departing Iddo Station for Osogbo on May 26, with the return trip on May 28. The NRC thanks passengers for choosing rail and wishes everyone a safe and joyful Sallah.

With two extra trips added for Sallah travel, do you think this will ease the usual track congestion and boarding rush?

I agree, adding more services at peak times can ease the crush and give travellers breathing space.

They say six trips now, but I doubt if that really cuts waiting times during the Sallah rush.

How many seats does each new train have, and will that really cut Sallah waiting times?

Actually, adding trips on just one day won't help those traveling on other busy dates around Sallah.

If they want smooth journeys, the NRC should stagger departures more evenly and maybe add an evening train too.
