Didier Deschamps to Step Down After France’s Semi-Final Exit

France coach Didier Deschamps will leave the national team after their 2-0 loss to Spain in the World Cup semi-final. He confirmed earlier that this tournament would be his last in charge. His farewell match is set for Saturday, July 18 in Miami against the loser of England vs Argentina. Deschamps won the World Cup as a player in 1998 and as manager in 2018. He took over in 2012 and guided Les Bleus through six major tournaments. Former teammate Zinedine Zidane is expected to succeed him.
