Security was intensified around the Rainbow Event Centre in Abuja as 3,000 delegates gathered for the African Democratic Congress national convention. The party has been embroiled in a leadership crisis, with rival factions claiming control. The electoral commission suspended recognition of all factions pending court rulings on the dispute. Despite venue challenges and attempts to stop the event, organizers pressed on. Senator Dino Melaye and party spokesman Kabiru Saje confirmed the convention would produce or reaffirm leadership by the scheduled 11 a.m. start.
