ADC Amends Constitution at National Convention, Declares Start of ‘Journey to Aso Rock’
The African Democratic Congress wrapped up its national convention in Abuja by amending its constitution with 94% of 1,576 delegates voting in favour. The convention also ratified the dissolution of the Ralph Nwosu-led National Working Committee, handing full authority to David Mark’s team. In closing remarks, National Chairman David Mark praised the organisation and said this marks the beginning of ADC’s journey to Aso Rock in 2027. Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar accused INEC of undermining democracy, while Peter Obi warned that Nigeria’s rising debt profile could lead to disaster. Rotimi Amaechi raised security concerns, likening recent violence to a civil war. Former Minister Rauf Aregbesola labelled President Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” agenda a scam and urged Nigerians to stop “scammers” from retaining power. Despite a court ruling preventing INEC from monitoring, the party proceeded with state congresses and held its national convention as delegates voted to amend the constitution.
