Easter Worshippers Abducted in Kaduna Still Missing After 70 Days, Community Demands Action

Easter Worshippers Abducted in Kaduna Still Missing After 70 Days, Community Demands Action

Families of worshippers abducted at an Easter Sunday service in Ariko, Kachia LGA, have been left in limbo for more than 70 days. The Kuturmi Unity Development Association says federal, state and security agencies have shown little urgency in mounting a rescue mission. The group also reports that 11 residents taken in a separate raid on the Awon community over 50 days ago remain held. It adds that ongoing attacks have displaced more than 100 communities across Kuturmi land. Thousands now live in informal settlements without adequate food, shelter or healthcare. Community leaders are calling on government authorities to intensify protection measures and secure the release of all captives.

How can local leaders and residents effectively pressure security agencies to speed up rescue efforts for those Easter worshippers in Ariko?

It's surprising that after more than two months, there's still little visible action from federal or state agencies on these kidnappings.

We've seen similar cases where loud demands didn't guarantee swift outcomes, so maybe public outcry alone won't force a rescue.
