Undav’s Late Strike Seals Germany’s 2-1 Friendly Win Over Ghana

Undav’s Late Strike Seals Germany’s 2-1 Friendly Win Over Ghana

A late-minute finish from Deniz Undav secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory for Germany over Ghana in Monday’s international friendly. Kai Havertz had broken the deadlock from the penalty spot after VAR ruled a handball in the first half. Ghana looked dangerous on the break and pulled level through Abdul Fatawu, but German coach Julian Nagelsmann’s substitutes kept the hosts on the front foot. Nico Schlotterbeck and Jonathan Tah were denied by last-ditch defending, while Leroy Sané later injected fresh pace. In the final minutes, Leon Goretzka’s header found Undav at the back post for the winner. Germany now boasts a seven-game winning streak and holds a favorable record in recent meetings with the Black Stars.

Undav's late winner was impressive, but do you think Ghana's tactics could have forced extra time or even turned the result around?

Which Ghana adjustments do you think might have slowed Germany's attack and kept the game level longer?

Sure, they nearly got there, but I reckon their cautious shape stifled any real comeback.

It's odd how Germany only took the lead once VAR spotted that handball, as Ghana seemed to threaten more on the counter.

Calling it 'hard-fought' feels generous when Ghana created the clearer chances and Germany largely sat back waiting to nick one.

Germany should refine their defensive shape against counterattacks before the next fixture, while Ghana might focus on ending chances more clinically.
