NFF Suspends Referee Yakubu Adamu Indefinitely Over Disputed Rangers Penalty
The Nigeria Football Federation’s Refereeing Development Committee has suspended referee Yakubu Adamu from all league and football activities. Adamu awarded a penalty to Rangers in their matchday 37 clash with Bendel Insurance. The call led to a goal that shifted the outcome and was judged inconsistent with the Laws of the Game. The committee said the decision brought the match into disrepute and announced the suspension takes immediate effect. Rangers won 2-1 at Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium to stay top of the NPFL with 65 points. Rivers United sit second on 64. On the final day, Rangers visit Ikorodu City while Rivers United host Katsina United.
