Neymar has admitted he felt “upset and sad” after missing out on Carlo Ancelotti’s 26-man selection for Brazil’s March friendlies against France and Croatia. The 34-year-old forward said he remains focused and believes there is still one final call-up to realise his World Cup dream. Ancelotti defended his decision by pointing to Neymar’s recent muscle fatigue, which forced him to miss a Santos match the coach had planned to scout. The manager insisted Neymar must be 100 percent fit to make the squad. The omission casts doubt on Neymar’s place in the final World Cup roster, due to be announced in May 2026. Brazil’s all-time leading scorer has battled serious knee injuries since October 2023 but returned to boyhood club Santos to rebuild his fitness and form.
