Ikenga Umueri Appeals to Gov Soludo to Uphold Zoning Arrangement for PG Election
By Ogemdi Ozoemenam Leaders of Ikenga Umueri in Anambra East have petitioned Governor Charles Soludo to preserve the original zoning formula for the next President General. They accuse local officials—including the council mayor, the sitting PG and the electoral chair—of disrupting the election schedule and excluding Ikenga and Otuocha quarters. The group says the planned March 2026 election was postponed beyond the incumbent’s tenure. They also allege a mayoral decree and a fresh electoral notice have unfairly altered quarter allocations and sidelined rightful candidates. Under the Ikenga Umueri Unity Forum, High Chief Ben Ekwevi, Dr Chinedu Ekweonu and Chief Obi Monulu urge the governor to restore the status quo and allow Ikenga Umueri to produce the next President General as originally agreed.
