APGA Announces Option A-4 Direct Primaries to End ‘Mercenary Politics’ for 2027
The All Progressives Grand Alliance has confirmed that all tickets for elective positions in the 2027 general election will be chosen through direct primaries using the Option A-4 system. Party leader Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo condemned transactional politics and promised that only registered party members—not powerful individuals—will decide candidacies. He highlighted APGA’s new digital register and vowed to abolish “gift tickets” and stop officials from exploiting aspirants. A funding committee will explore member dues to sustain the party, moving away from a business-dependent model. National Chairman Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa also unveiled a modernized roadmap under the new electoral act. It includes digital registration, screening before nomination, and a strict code of conduct for neutrality among party officers. The South-East Zonal meeting ended with a vote of confidence in Governor Soludo and strong support for reforms aimed at building a transparent, equitable, and just national movement.
