US Lifted Visa Freeze for Nigerian Doctors as Shortage Worsens
The US has reversed its January policy that halted visa extensions, work permits and green cards for citizens of 39 countries. The move comes amid an estimated shortfall of about 65,000 doctors in the United States. Foreign-trained physicians account for roughly a quarter of the US medical workforce, often filling critical primary care roles in underserved areas.
