Fear Is Nigeria’s Greatest Threat: Why Security Must Be Our Top Investment

Fear Is Nigeria’s Greatest Threat: Why Security Must Be Our Top Investment — 1 of 2
1 / 2

Today, fear has become Nigeria’s biggest enemy. When citizens dread travelling, farming, schooling or investing, our economy grinds to a halt. Every kidnapping or attack is not just a crime—it disrupts agriculture, education, health care and business. Security is the foundation on which everything else depends. Yet many state agencies lack vehicles, fuel, technology and proper support. Underfunded officers risk their lives daily without the logistics needed to protect communities. It’s time to treat security spending as the vital investment it is. State governments must partner with police and military, equip stations, build local intelligence networks and improve working conditions. Only then can Nigerians feel safe enough to farm, learn, invest and drive real growth.
