COOU Founder’s Day Sets Agenda for Practical Climate Action with One Million Trees

Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University marked Founder’s Day with a call to turn climate talk into measurable steps. Vice-Chancellor Kate Azuka Omenugha spotlighted sustainability summits, the One Million Trees campaign, a Climate Action Committee, Student Environmental Police and Climate Action Ambassadors. She stressed that embedding these efforts into campus culture is vital for lasting impact. Chairman Sir Chiwendu Ukaobasi Udensi highlighted integrity, viability and visibility as guiding principles and pledged support for a new Ethics Department to uphold moral standards and responsible citizenship. European Union Ambassador Gautier Mignot and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Bianca Ojukwu urged climate-smart growth and global cooperation. They encouraged the university to lead by blending academic excellence with strong values for a resilient future.
