Ebonyi Sports Aide Demands Overhaul of Abakaliki FC After Poor Results

The Special Assistant to the Ebonyi State Governor on Sports has called for a complete restructuring of Abakaliki FC’s management and technical team. Despite significant government funding, the club’s performance has fallen short of expectations. He praised the governor’s efforts in reviving sports after years of decline but warned that good financing must translate into strong league results. According to the aide, a mid-table finish is unacceptable for a well-resourced side. Pointing to administrative gaps, he highlighted the lack of clear roles among board members and urged players to provide evidence if they face salary or management issues. He stressed that merit and consistent league performance—not cup runs—should guide technical decisions. Drawing on his own international career, he urged young talents to seek opportunities beyond state clubs and insisted that only professional governance can turn government investment into on-field success.

True talk! A confidence-building camp with a fresh coach could reignite the team's spirit before results improve.

Funding won't change much if coaching remains unchanged; maybe overhaul tactics before morale.

I dey feel that! Starting with a vibrant training camp and positive pep talks will surely boost their confidence.

It seems surprising that even with significant government backing, Abakaliki FC can still underperform so drastically in league matches.

Sometimes a total overhaul disrupts more than it fixes; maybe the existing staff just need clearer objectives and better coordination.

They could start by setting measurable performance targets for each department and reviewing progress every month to ensure accountability.
