If Heaven Is the Ultimate Goal, Why Do Preachers Save Lives?
Last Friday, I passed by a mosque and heard the imam urging everyone to focus on heaven. A few weeks ago, I watched a Christian sermon on TV about leaving sin behind and keeping heaven in sight. But when people face deadly events, these same preachers rush in with healing prayers. They claim to cure severe illness and even bring the dead back to life. Isn’t that denying souls their chance to reach heaven? Heaven is often described as a city of earthly gold, with plenty of food and many companions. Why use familiar materials found on earth to describe a place beyond human comprehension? Shouldn’t there be a realm beyond our wildest imagination? I’d love to know what you think. If heaven truly awaits us, why would spiritual leaders work so hard to keep us in this world?
