Good Samaritan Rescues 75-Year-Old Blind Father Abandoned by His Children
A Good Samaritan named Olapeju Agunbiade found Mr. Olaseni Arotiba, a 75-year-old blind man, stranded outside Omotayo Maternity late at night after a commercial motorcyclist dropped him off and left. The elderly man had been evicted from a hotel where his son had paid for his stay, and had nowhere else to go. When hospital staff contacted his children, his daughter disowned him, saying she “ceased to have a father” years ago, while his son claimed to be busy caring for their mother in hospital. None of his children would take responsibility or pick him up. With only ₦10,000 in his account and no nursing home willing to admit him, the Good Samaritan arranged for him to be taken to the Accident and Emergency department of Ring Road State Hospital. She urged families to stay closely involved in the lives of their relatives to prevent such painful neglect.
