Resident Doctors Suspend Strike After Interim Deal with Federal Government
The National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has called off its planned nationwide strike after reaching an interim agreement with the Federal Government. The decision came after an emergency meeting of NARD’s National Executive Council on April 7. Government representatives gave assurances to address key demands, including the payment of outstanding salaries, hazard allowances, and support for the Medical Residency Training Fund. NARD cited progress in these negotiations as the reason for suspending the industrial action. Despite suspending the strike, NARD stressed that several issues remain unresolved. The association will continue to monitor the government’s commitments as discussions move forward and will reconvene if progress stalls.
