The Anambra State Special Anti-Touting Squad Agency has arrested a suspected child trafficker, Mr Sunday Nomen, and rescued two stolen children. The 42-year-old from Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, was apprehended in Nkpor, Idemili LGA. Operatives recovered a three-year-old and an eight-year-old after storming the hotel where they were held. Agency spokesperson Karen James said the suspect belongs to an inter-state trafficking ring that sells children from six months old. He confessed to buying the victims for N3.5 million and naming an accomplice in Onitsha who initiated him into the trade. The suspect will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Awka. Investigations are ongoing to dismantle the rest of the syndicate.
