Conte explained he felt the project had run its course and admitted he struggled to bring unity to the dressing room. “I failed in one thing at Napoli: I couldn’t bring unity to the environment, and it’s difficult to compete without that,” he said. In his 91 matches in Naples, the Italian boss secured 52 wins and two trophies—Serie A and the Supercoppa Italiana. When asked about the Italy job, he quipped that the federation should hire Pep Guardiola.
