Lagos Bus Service Carries Over 60.8 Million Riders as Network Expands
Lagos Bus Services Limited has ferried more than 60.8 million passengers between May 2019 and February 2025. The agency now operates about 1,000 trips daily, moving an average of 42,266 commuters across the state. The network covers all five IBILE divisions and 13 local governments, including Ibeju-Lekki, Ojo and Ikorodu. It runs along 21 transport corridors with over 40 routes, supported by six depots and a fleet of 300 buses. Fares remain lower than many informal operators. Officials say these milestones reflect the administration’s THEMES+ Agenda to build a safe, efficient and affordable transport system. Plans are under way to strengthen connectivity across road, rail and water networks to meet growing mobility needs.
