World Cup Day 2: Canada Ends 36-Year Winless Run with Draw as USA Dominate Paraguay

World Cup Day 2: Canada Ends 36-Year Winless Run with Draw as USA Dominate Paraguay

Day 2 of the 2026 World Cup saw contrasting host fortunes. In Toronto, Canada hosted Bosnia and Herzegovina and finally secured their first ever World Cup point. A Jovo Lukic header gave Bosnia an early lead, but Cyle Larin’s late equaliser earned Canada a historic 1-1 draw. In Los Angeles, the USA lived up to high expectations by cruising to a 4-1 victory over Paraguay. An early own goal set the tone, and Folarin Balogun’s double, plus a Giovanni Reyna trivela, sealed a commanding win in front of a packed, star-studded crowd. Both games were preceded by electrifying performances. Toronto fans enjoyed Alanis Morissette, Michael Bublé, Alessia Cara and Jessie Reyez, while Los Angeles was lit up by Katy Perry, Rema, Future and Tyla. The hosts remain unbeaten. Canada has its first point at last, and the USA look like genuine contenders as the tournament unfolds.

How do you think Canada's historic draw will affect their confidence and tactics for the rest of the tournament?

Totally! That draw has gotta boost their belief, they'll play bolder and try riskier moves next game.

Canada don secure their first ever World Cup point, but dem defence still looked shaky after that late equaliser.

Are we sure the defence was shaky, or did that late equaliser just highlight a momentary lapse?

Celebrating a draw makes sense, but I'm not convinced this single point proves real progress for Canada yet.

Focusing on reinforcing the defence and building squad depth should be Canada's immediate priority after this historic result.
