AGF Fagbemi Urges Court to Deregister Five Parties Over Failed Electoral Thresholds
The Attorney General of the Federation has asked the Federal High Court in Abuja to order INEC to deregister five political parties. He argues these parties have failed to meet the constitutional requirements for registration and threaten Nigeria’s electoral integrity. The suit, filed under FHC/ABJ/CS/2637/2026 by the National Forum of Former Legislators, lists INEC and the AGF as defendants alongside ADC, AA, APP, Accord, and ZLP. It cites Section 225A of the Constitution, the Electoral Act 2022, and INEC regulations, noting none of the affected parties secured the required vote thresholds or elective seats.
