Former Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong has ruled out pursuing a coaching career. He says his long-term goal lies in football governance and administration. Speaking on air at a major sports radio station, Troost-Ekong revealed he is already studying the governance structures of FIFA, CAF and the Nigeria Football Federation. He believes working in the boardroom offers a bigger chance to shape the future of Nigerian football. The veteran defender retired from international duty in December 2025 after a decade with the Super Eagles. He won the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations Player of the Tournament award before stepping away from the national team.
