Falconets’ U-20 World Cup Qualifier Against Malawi Likely to Move to Abeokuta

Falconets’ U-20 World Cup Qualifier Against Malawi Likely to Move to Abeokuta

Nigeria’s U-20 women’s team may now host their first-leg World Cup qualifier against Malawi in Abeokuta instead of Ikenne. The change is unconfirmed but gaining traction. NFF Director of Communications Demola Olajire told a local sports outlet that the likelihood of Abeokuta hosting the match is very high. Details are expected to be finalized soon. This wouldn’t be the first time the Falconets have switched venues during qualifiers. Their earlier first-leg tie with Senegal was moved from Ibadan to Abeokuta.

Has anyone considered how this change to Abeokuta might affect the Falconets' preparation and fan turnout for the first leg?

You're right, a switch to Abeokuta could really give the Falconets fresh energy and galvanize fans.

I see your point but maybe shifting venue could boost local support and not necessarily disrupt prep.

Shifting a qualifier from Ikenne to Abeokuta on short notice could disrupt logistics, but we haven't seen any official confirmation yet.

I'm not convinced that moving venues will improve home advantage when fans already travel easily to Ikenne for matches.

Team officials should confirm venue change quickly and update travel plans, local accommodation, and training schedules without delay.
