Kano Police Launch Crackdown on Vehicles with Hidden or Missing Number Plates
The Kano State Police Command has begun full enforcement against vehicles with covered, defaced, or missing registration plates. The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, warns that tampering with number plates violates the Road Traffic Act and hampers crime prevention. All Area Commanders, Divisional Officers, and the Traffic Section have been directed to impound offending vehicles and prosecute drivers without discretion. The exercise covers all local government areas and Kano metropolis. Motorists are advised to keep both front and rear plates clear, remove any obstructions, and ensure vehicles are duly registered with the Federal Road Safety Corps. The public is urged to report unregistered or improperly plated vehicles to the nearest station. This enforcement aligns with the Inspector-General’s vision for intelligence-led, community-based policing. Citizens and transport unions are asked to cooperate, and any misconduct by officers can be reported to the Command’s Complaint Response Unit.
