Replacing Licensed Staff with Interns in Public Hospitals Is Endangering Patients
I often see interns doing the jobs of fully licensed staff in our public hospitals. These students are meant to learn under the supervision of professionals, not handle critical tasks alone. This practice puts patient lives at risk. Errors are rising because interns lack the experience and licensure to make complex clinical decisions. Many patients have suffered harm or even died due to this dangerous trend. Licensed staff should provide care while delegating minor duties to trainees. The Health Ministry must intervene. Hospitals should hire qualified personnel instead of overburdening interns. We have enough trained professionals to staff our facilities properly. It’s time to protect patients and ensure safe, quality care.
