The agency posted the update on its official social media account and reaffirmed its support for the DRC government and partners in the ongoing response. Separately, the World Health Organization’s Director-General declared the Ebola outbreak in the DRC and Uganda a Public Health Emergency of International Concern under Article 12 of the International Health Regulations. He noted this unprecedented move reflects growing concerns over the speed and scale of the epidemic, and an Emergency Committee will soon issue recommendations.
