When Intellectual Talk Fails: The Rise of “Olodo” in Our Academia
Nigerians often pride themselves on being intellectuals, yet our society still struggles to build basic infrastructure. Even schools, meant to foster debate and discovery, are not spared. Remember the so-called “miracle tree” at FUTO? Our scientists hailed it for seemingly providing water at a university devoted to science and technology. That ingenuity, however, seems more myth than reality. This “Olodo uprising” began long before any scapegoat was named. Many labeled “olodos” are teachers, students, and professors. They may speak perfect English, but their contributions to society remain minimal.
