Bayelsa’s Pioneer Airlines Takes Off on Inaugural Flight
Bayelsa-owned Pioneer Airlines has launched its first non-scheduled flight. Operating an ATR 72-600, the aircraft departed Abuja’s Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport at 11:10hrs and headed to Bayelsa International Airport. The cockpit crew featured Captain M. Ibrahim and First Officer Joyce, the airline’s female co-pilot. On board was Governor Douye Diri, joined by former Rep. Gabriel Onyenwife, High Chief Collins Cocodia, and five aides. This partnership marks Bayelsa State’s entry into commercial aviation and aims to boost its internally generated revenue. Governor Diri expressed confidence in the airline’s capacity to deliver quality service and looked forward to a strong, rewarding collaboration.
