Atletico Madrid’s quest to end a five-year trophy drought ended in heartbreak as they fell 4-3 in a penalty shootout to Real Sociedad after a 3-3 draw at full time and extra time. Real Sociedad struck inside 15 seconds through Ander Barrenetxea before Ademola Lookman restored parity in the 18th minute with a fine finish from Antoine Griezmann’s pass.
