Screening for Voluntary Evacuation of Nigerians from South Africa Ends Today
The joint screening exercise for Nigerians registered for voluntary evacuation from South Africa will conclude today. Officials from the Nigerian High Commission in Pretoria, South Africa’s Department of International Relations and Cooperation, the South African Police and immigration authorities have been conducting the checks since Thursday. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says this process will confirm the number of Nigerians cleared for evacuation and pave the way for arranging aircraft to bring them home. This follows renewed anti-immigrant protests in Pretoria and Johannesburg last month.
