CUPP Welcomes Court Ruling That Nullifies INEC’s 2027 Election Schedule, Warns Against Appeal
In Abuja, the Coalition of United Political Parties praised a Federal High Court judgment that nullified INEC’s timetable for the 2027 general elections. The ruling allows parties greater flexibility in internal affairs, including candidate substitution and revised registration deadlines. The coalition urged INEC to comply immediately and warned that any appeal could create uncertainty, erode public confidence, and undermine the credibility of the polls. Fourteen political groups have agreed to announce extended primary schedules to accommodate defectors and ensure broader participation. They also called on INEC to work collaboratively in implementing a realistic, revised timetable.
