TriTek Summit Urges Soft Skills to Bridge Africa’s Digital Employability Gap
At the TriTek Academy EdTech Summit in Lagos, stakeholders warned that technical training alone no longer ensures employability in Africa’s AI-driven economy. They called for urgent education reforms emphasizing practical experience, communication, critical thinking and emotional intelligence. Dr Adeshola Cole highlighted the need for ‘global awareness’ and workplace-ready soft skills alongside certifications. Panelists from Konga, Evolv Africa and other organisations stressed alternative pathways like internships, volunteering, and self-initiated projects. Discussions also explored stronger public–private collaboration to align curricula with evolving industry needs. Speakers agreed that Africa’s competitive edge now depends on producing adaptable professionals who can lead, collaborate and apply technical knowledge in real-world settings.
