NBC Threatens Sanctions for Presenters Who Bully Guests or Pass Opinion as Fact
The National Broadcasting Commission has warned that any presenter found passing personal opinions as facts or intimidating guests on air will face sanctions. The regulator noted a growing number of breaches of the 6th Edition Nigeria Broadcasting Code across news, current affairs and political programmes. It said anchors must remain impartial, allow fair hearing to all views and uphold accuracy and balance. NBC also cautioned broadcasters against airing divisive or unsubstantiated political content and reminded them that editorial responsibility cannot be shifted onto guests. With elections approaching, the commission urged strict compliance to prevent misinformation.
