ADC Leadership Battle: Nafiu Bala Denies Resignation, Claims Forged Signature
Nafiu Bala, acting national chairman of the African Democratic Congress, has rejected reports that he resigned as deputy national chairman. He insists a May 17, 2025 letter bearing his signature is forged. Bala says he became acting chairman after former national chairman Ralph Nwosu and other leaders stepped down on July 2. He adds that any real resignation letter would be on his official letterhead. The dispute prompted the electoral commission to withdraw recognition of the faction led by former Senate President David Mark. Bala sued to block Mark’s group and compel the commission to recognise him. The Court of Appeal later dismissed Mark’s appeal as unmeritorious.
