Exploring Igbo Communities Across Nigeria Beyond the South East
Igbo heritage extends far beyond the South East. We have indigenous settlements from the Middle Belt all the way to the Niger Delta. The Anioma people in Delta North are well known, but many other regions host Igbo communities. In Kogi State you will find Odolu, Onicha Igo, Ekeavurugo, Ebokwe, Nwajala, and Akpanya. Cross River hosts Osobo and Ebom Ebiriba. Akwa Ibom includes Ohaobu and Obuagu. Edo State communities include Ekpon, Igbanke, Oza, Iwa-Iru, Ugwu Eze, Oghada, and Ogbahu. In Benue there are Úmuezeokaha, Úmuezeokahaoha, Ammeka, Umuoghara, Amaezekwe, and Orizór. Rivers State has Ikwerre, Etche, Ogba, Ekpenye, Egbema, Ndoni, Ndoki, and Obobo. Bayelsa is home to Anibeze and Ogbia.
