Man Utd’s Defence in Disarray as Yoro Is Ruled Out Ahead of Chelsea

Man Utd’s Defence in Disarray as Yoro Is Ruled Out Ahead of Chelsea — 1 of 2
1 / 2

Manchester United face a severe defensive crisis ahead of this weekend’s trip to Chelsea. Leny Yoro picked up an injury in training and will not travel with the squad. Michael Carrick is now left with only one senior centre-back available after Harry Maguire’s red card ban was extended and Lisandro Martinez also sat out following his dismissal against Leeds. That leaves Ayden Heaven as Carrick’s sole experienced option at the back. Despite the setbacks, midfielder Kobbie Mainoo has recovered from a minor knock and joins the squad in London. Youngsters Shea Lacey and Tyler Fletcher also travel as cover amid the defensive shortages.

Relying on just one senior centre-back feels like asking for trouble, especially against a strong Chelsea attack away from home.

Michael Carrick should consider bolstering midfield cover and instruct full-backs to tighten marking to compensate for the defensive shortfall.
