Edo Government Visits Homes of Injured Benin Tech Students and Pledges Aid
The Edo State Government delegation on Thursday visited the homes of students from Benin Technical College who were hurt during the 2026 Children’s Day celebration at Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium. Led by Permanent Secretary Enodolomwanyi Otamere, the team delivered material support and conveyed the government’s goodwill to the families. He noted that a panel of inquiry has been set up to investigate the incident and recommend measures to prevent future occurrences. The three students—Elizabeth Sunday, Mary Bai and Rejoice Igene—have all received medical treatment and been discharged from hospital. Mrs. Onomen Briggs, Chairman of EdoBTVET, assured families that student safety will remain a top priority during school activities. Family representatives thanked Governor Monday Okpebholo for the prompt intervention and the delegation for the home visits.
