Mass Terrorism Trial Kicks Off at Abuja Federal High Court

Mass Terrorism Trial Kicks Off at Abuja Federal High Court

On April 7, the Federal High Court in Abuja began the mass trial of 20 suspects charged with terrorism offences. The case was reported by the national news agency. The hearings were moved from Kainji in Niger State because the court is on Easter vacation. This break runs from April 7 to April 13, with regular sittings resuming on April 14 across all divisions. Justice Binta Nyako, Justice Emeka Nwite, Justice Musa Liman and others are presiding over cases in 13 courtrooms. Rotimi Oyedepo, SAN, leads the prosecution team, while Aliyu Abubakar heads the defence for the accused. Security was beefed up around the Abuja court complex. Armed personnel blocked access roads and police helicopters patrolled overhead.

I'm not convinced the change of venue alone will address security risks. Shouldn't authorities focus more on detailed threat assessments?
