CDHR Urges Tinubu to Intervene as 62 Nigerians Detained Without Trial in Uganda
The Committee for the Defence of Human Rights has sounded the alarm over the alleged unlawful detention of 62 Nigerian nationals in Uganda. The group says the detainees have been held without legal representation, consular access, or due process. CDHR condemned the action as a breach of international law and diplomatic norms. It is calling on President Tinubu to demand their immediate rights restoration and urging the African Union and the United Nations to step in. Ugandan authorities say the group, identified as Life Mission, was operating without valid work permits in Adjumani and parts of Kampala. Immigration officials arrested them for unauthorised religious activities. Leaders of Life Mission reject the allegations, insisting they secured all necessary clearances from relevant Ugandan agencies before their arrival.
