Ikhana Endorses Siasia, Amokachi and Maikaba for U-20 and U-23 Coaching Jobs, Urges NFF to Stop Player Selection Interference

Ikhana Endorses Siasia, Amokachi and Maikaba for U-20 and U-23 Coaching Jobs, Urges NFF to Stop Player Selection Interference

Khadiri Ikhana believes Samson Siasia, Daniel Amokachi and Abdul Maikaba have what it takes to steer Nigeria’s U-20 Flying Eagles and U-23 Olympic team back to winning ways. He warns that any hope of revival hinges on the Nigeria Football Federation granting the coaches full control over player invitations and matchday selections. Ikhana argues that past declines in age-grade results trace back to administrators overruling technical decisions. The former Enyimba and Super Eagles defender, who lifted the CAF Champions League in 2003, also challenges the NFF’s tendency to prioritise foreign-based youths over home-based talent. He insists domestic players deserve a leading role in rebuilding national youth teams.

I'm not convinced that changing coaches alone will address player development problems or the federation's deeper administrative issues.

They need clear performance targets and regular evaluation metrics. NFF should set defined benchmarks before giving full selection control to these coaches.
