Ghanaian Advocates Demand Mahama’s Intervention to Protect Jonah Capital in Nigeria

Ghanaian Advocates Demand Mahama’s Intervention to Protect Jonah Capital in Nigeria

A Ghanaian group has called on President John Mahama to step in over the reported harassment of Jonah Capital, a Ghanaian-owned investment firm in Abuja. Concerned Citizens of Ghana says officials from the Federal Capital Territory Administration and armed security recently entered the company’s River Park Estate project, destroying property and intimidating staff and residents. The group notes that legal and arbitration proceedings are already under way. The convener highlights that Nigeria’s attorney-general earlier found no evidence of forgery against Jonah Capital and that a High Court struck out the case in January 2026. Yet, fresh pressure and alleged shareholding changes persist without investigation. The group warns that Ghanaian businesses in Nigeria deserve the same protections Nigerian firms enjoy in Ghana and urges diplomatic engagement to resolve the dispute peacefully.

I agree, President Mahama should engage Nigeria's security chiefs, strengthen diplomatic ties and support joint risk assessments for Jonah Capital's protection.

It seems unusual for Ghana's president to intervene directly in another country's capital affairs over a single firm's treatment.

I get your point, but presidents often act to protect national investments even overseas.

I'm not convinced these claims of harassment weren't exaggerated or influenced by political interests back home.

Engaging Nigeria's Chamber of Commerce and seeking diplomatic meetings might offer a more effective route to secure protection for Jonah Capital.
