NMDPRA and NUPRC Forge Stronger Partnership to Boost Oil Sector Regulation

The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) and the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) have reaffirmed their commitment to closer collaboration. NMDPRA Chief Executive Rabiu Abdullahi Umar announced this during a courtesy visit to NUPRC CEO Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan. The meeting, Umar’s first official engagement since his appointment, focused on aligning both agencies’ efforts under the Petroleum Industry Act. They agreed that improved synergy will enhance regulatory efficiency, drive sector performance, and promote sustainable development in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry. Both leaders also highlighted the importance of professional cooperation in attracting investment and building confidence among stakeholders. They expressed optimism that this sustained partnership will support long-term growth and benefit all players in the petroleum sector.
