Ikorodu Monarch and Associate Charged by SWAT Over Defamation and Court Contempt
Operatives of the SWAT unit of the Nigeria Police have arraigned a traditional ruler from Ikorodu, Olusola Olugbade, 49, and his alleged accomplice, Sanni Yusuf, at an Igbosere Magistrate’s Court in Lagos Island. They face a four-count charge including conspiracy, cyberbullying, defamation of character and contempt of court. The charges follow a petition by Kazeem Sikiru Kalejaiye, who accused them of forging his late father’s signature to sell disputed land. After a High Court barred further transactions on the land, the defendants reportedly posted defamatory remarks online, calling the judgment fake and urging the public to ignore it. They pleaded not guilty and were granted bail of ₦3 million each with two sureties. The case is adjourned until May 20, 2026, under Sections 411, 24(2), 373 and 104 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
