Gas Cylinder Mishap in Omu-Aran: Two Flats Burned After Children Ignite Blaze
A fire erupted on Monday, May 11 at around 12:57pm in a two–storey building on Ibrahim Taiwo Road, Omu-Aran, Irepodun LGA, Kwara State. Children playing with a cooking gas cylinder sparked the blaze while their parents were away. The fire gutted two of the building’s four three-bedroom flats before firefighters brought it under control at about 1:21pm. A passerby raised the alarm that led to a prompt response by the Kwara State Fire Service. No injuries were recorded. The fire service director urged parents and guardians to keep minors away from gas cylinders, matches and other flammable items, and stressed the need to report fire outbreaks immediately to emergency agencies.
