Boyfriend Arraigned for Allegedly Stealing ₦650,000 iPhone in Kaduna

A 26-year-old man from Sabon Tasha, Kevin Moses, was arraigned before a Kaduna Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing his girlfriend’s iPhone valued at ₦650,000. The prosecution said Moses took the device during a dedication ceremony at his uncle’s residence in Barnawa on May 31. Police tracked the phone to the buyer, who identified the defendant as the seller. Charged under Section 217 of the Kaduna State Penal Code, which carries a five-year jail term if convicted, Moses pleaded not guilty. Magistrate Ibrahim Emmanuel granted bail in the sum of ₦200,000 with two sureties of like amount. The sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and provide proof of Kaduna State tax payment. The case is adjourned to July 22 for hearing.
