Creators Nexus 2026: Lagos Summit Charts Sustainable Creative Careers

Creators Nexus 2026: Lagos Summit Charts Sustainable Creative Careers

Nigeria’s creative community gathered at the Celebr8 Centre, Ikeja, for Creators Nexus 2026. Over 5,000 creatives attended in person, with many more joining online. The event focused on shifting from viral fame to lasting career impact. Speakers included actress-filmmaker Funke Akindele, actor Kemi Lala Akindoju, Bank78 founder Seyi Ebenezer and the President’s special assistant on arts and culture. They led sessions on storytelling, monetisation strategies and policy support for creative professionals. Convener Moromooluwatiketike Abolaji explained that the free platform began from a desire to help creatives build authentic brands that endure. Her vision centres on careers rooted in discipline, purpose and resilience, rather than short-lived virality. Building on strong turnout and engagement this year, plans are already underway to expand Creators Nexus into a year-round platform. The summit reinforces Nigeria’s growing role as a hub for Africa’s creative economy.

Hmm, I'd say it wasn't a single insight that shifted me but the buzz of ideas in the room.

Attending in person boosted networking, though I wonder if digital participants really felt the same energy at Ikeja venue.

Focusing on long-term impact is important, but some creators thrive on viral moments and might miss that energy shift altogether.
