Covenant University Mourns Loss of Student Toluwase Emmanuel, Affirms No Negligence
On April 6, Covenant University sadly lost one of its students, Toluwase Jesutunmise Emmanuel, during a campus football training session. He had stepped aside complaining of leg pain and fatigue, then was found gasping for breath and rushed to the nearby Medical Centre. University doctors administered CPR and used an automated external defibrillator, but were unable to revive him. A prior undisclosed heart condition was cited as the cause of death. The university confirms there was no negligence or equipment shortage in the emergency response. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Timothy A. Anake and the management stayed with the family from the moment of the incident until the funeral. The entire Covenant community extends heartfelt condolences and asks everyone to keep the family in their prayers.
